Depressed goat is reunited with his best friend, a donkey

A 10-year-old goat named Mr G nearly starved himself to death after being separated from his burro friend Jellybean.

The farm friends were sent to live at different sanctuaries after being rescued from a California hoarder who kept dozens of dogs and three barnyard animals in squalid conditions. Though Mr G was finally free of his abusive owner at Animal Place, he refused to eat or even move for four straight days.

GOAT

‘Mr. G refused to eat. He spent his days lying in a corner of his stall, barely lifting his head. Staff tried every treat – molasses, sweet grain, apples, wetting down food…nothing worked,’ the shelter wrote on its website.

Staff even had to physically move Mr G every so often, just so he wouldn’t be sitting in one place for too long. Animal Place brought in a veterinarian and discovered that nothing physically was wrong with the goat – Mr G was just depressed.

So the shelter made a decision to reunite the goat with his beloved Jellybean, though it would involve a 14-hour round-trip journey to the burro’s shelter.

It took another few days to bring Jellybean back, but it was definitely worth it. The moment Jellybean was released into Mr G’s pen, the goat burst forth with energy – excited to be with his long-lost friend again.
