Boy with amputated leg becomes best friend of puppy with missing paw
There is nothing more beautiful than the bond between a boy and his dog. A pet can change a child’s life because it is a loving and loyal friend and playmate.
A boy and his new Golden Retriever puppy have a particularly strong bond because they have something remarkable in common.
The dog named Marvel was born with a missing right front paw.
Some people might reject a pet with a disability. Marvel’s breeder, on the other hand, was sure there was someone out there who would recognise the puppy’s beauty – perhaps someone who had been through the same thing.
“We wanted the dog to find a home with someone who had a similar physical impairment,” Barb Felt of Rolling Oaks Goldens told WCCO
It turned out there was the perfect candidate nearby to adopt Marvel.
Paxton Williams, a 7-year-old boy from Waconia, Minnesota, was born premature and had an infection in his leg. Three years ago, doctors amputated his foot and replaced it with a prosthetic so he could walk better.
When the family heard about the puppy with only three paws looking for a home, they knew it was destiny.
Marvel was brought to their home; while all the children took the puppy straight to their hearts, Paxton developed a very special relationship with the dog. The little boy immediately recognised the commonality.
“It’s like they knew they were special,” Paxton’s father Blaine Williams told WCCO.
Both are missing limbs, but they don’t let that stop them.
The two often run around and play together. Their steps may look a little different, but they still move with a certain carefree attitude.
And through the puppy, who is similar to him, Paxton has learned to accept his own differences.
