A Glass Of Wine And Go With The Flow: Va. Woman Turns 102, Celebrates By Riding A Horse
A Prince William County woman, Lucia Sines, is celebrating her 102nd birthday in a true cowgirl style!
Sines turned 102 on March 13th and celebrated over the weekend at Four Winds Farm in Bristow, Virginia.
The theme? “Cowgirls just want to have fun!”
Her family and close friends took Sines to the farm to enjoy a horseback ride. And, in true fashion – she was dressed to the nines with her cowgirl hat and boots.
Her caregiver, Linda Wakely, laughed “I told her if, at any time, she was uncomfortable with it just to say stop.”
Sines replied, “I know how to say stop, but I am not stopping!”
Sines explained how “it was the best day she’s ever had.”
Sines was born in Norfolk, Virginia on March 13, 1919.
“Everyone is always asking her what her secret is to longevity,” Wakely said. “She always says, a glass of wine every day and just go with the flow. Everything will work out.”
Sines is said to have always loved horseback riding. Wakely said, “She used to ride a horse named Mickey at the stables in DC.”
Her late husband was Arvin “Sam” Sines, who she met at a ballroom dancing club.
Lucia has always loved animals. Her cat Rosie is dear to her heart, as are many nephews and nieces, and her caregiver, Linda Wakeley.
